  Washington State Patrol title head District 2: Goals & Objectives

 
Focus Statement


District 2 and its employees are committed to the overall goals and objectives of the Washington State Patrol. We pro-actively and re-actively serve the citizens of King County and create partnerships with citizen groups, the media, and other organizations to provide professional law enforcement services.

 
Goals


  1. Decrease the percentage of injury collisions involving impaired drivers on the state route and interstate system.
  2. Decrease the percentage of collisions, citizen complaints, and incidents involving aggressive drivers on the state route and interstate system.
  3. Increase the percentage of seat belt usage by effecting programs that raise the awareness of restraint issues within our community.
  4. Decrease the percentage of collisions caused by speed on the state route and interstate system.
  5. Decrease number of collisions caused by following too close.
  6. Decrease number of HOV violators on the interstate.

 
Objectives


  • North Seattle, Zone 1
    Develop and implement plans to decrease the percentage of injury collisions involving impaired drivers under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol on I-5 between MP 161 to MP 177 and partner with local agencies to decrease the percentage of impaired drivers on state routes that are in close proximity to I-5.

    Develop and implement plans to decrease the percentage of injury collisions involving aggressive drivers on I-5 between MP 161 and 165, MP 171 and 175, and westbound I-90 to northbound I-5.

    Develop and implement plans to increase the percentage of seat belt usage in our community.

    Develop and implement plans to decrease the percentage of collisions where speed is a contributing factor on I-5 between MP 170 and 177.

  • South Seattle, Zone 2
    Develop and implement plans to decrease the percent of injury collisions involving driving while impaired by drugs and /or alcohol on I-5 between MP 150 and MP 155 (Southcenter).

    Develop and implement plans to decrease the number of speeding violations on I-5 between MP 150 and MP 155.

    Develop and implement plans to decrease the percent of injury collisions involving aggressive drivers on I-5 between MP 150 and MP 155.

    Increase the percent of seat belt usage by effecting programs that raise the awareness of restraint issues within our APA.

  • East King County, Zone 3
    Develop and implement plans to decrease the percentage of injury collisions involving driving while impaired by drugs and/or alcohol on I-405 between I-90 and SR 520. The areas of I-90 and SR 520 are included from I-405 to the west side of the bridges.

    Develop and implement plans to decrease the percentage of injury collisions involving speed on I-405 between Coal Creek Parkway (MP 10) and SR 520 (MP 15).

    Develop and implement plans to reduce the percentage of injury collisions involving aggressive drivers on I-405 between Coal Creek Parkway (MP 10) to SR 520 (MP 15), and to include the area of I-90 westbound from MP 11 to MP 10.

    Increase the percentage of seat belt usage by effecting programs that raise the awareness of restraint issues within our communities.

  • Kent Valley, Zone 4
    Develop and implement plans to decrease the percentage of injury collisions involving driving while impaired by drugs and/or alcohol on SR 167 between MP 17 to MP 26.

    Develop and implement plans to decrease the number of speeding violations on SR 18 between MP 9 and MP 20.

    Develop and implement plans to decrease the percentage of injury collisions involving aggressive drivers on I-405 between MP 1 and MP 9.

    Increase the percentage of seat belt usage by effecting programs that raise the awareness of restraint issues within our communities.

  • Snoqualmie Pass/North Bend, Zone 5
    Develop and implement plans to decrease the percentage of collisions involving driving while impaired by drugs and/or alcohol on SR 203 between SR 202 and Carnation, and on SR 202 between Snoqualmie and Fall City.

    Increase the percentage of seat belt usage by effecting programs that raise the awareness of restraint issues within the community.

    Develop and implement plans to decrease the number of speeding violations on SR 18 between MP 27 and MP 20.

    Develop and implement plans to increase compliance with the chain restrictions, during winter months, on I-90 between MP 47 and MP 54.

  • Enumclaw, Zone 6
    Develop and implement plans to decrease the percentage of injury collisions involving aggressive drivers on SR 410 between MP 26 and MP 57.

    Develop and implement plans to decrease the number of speeding violations on SR 164 between MP 5 and MP 13.

  • Commercial Vehicle Enforcement North
    Develop and set into action a plan to reduce overweight commercial motor vehicles on I-90 Eastbound from MP 22 to MP 25.

  • Commercial Vehicle Enforcement South
    Decrease the number of overweight commercial motor vehicles on
    I-5 from MP 142 to MP 139.5.
