Are You a Consumer With a Warrant Question?
The Office of the State Treasurer receives numerous calls from consumers regarding
warrants. Usually the calls involve uncertainty as to the purpose of the warrant or
a request that the warrant be reissued since it has passed its 180-day statute of
limitations. Although the State Treasurer prints and signs all state warrants, they
are issued by the individual agencies. Therefore, if a consumer has questions about
a warrant, they should notify the agency who issued the warrant.
How do you know who issued the warrant? If you look at the face of the warrant,
there is a row of small boxes in the upper right portion of the warrant. In that
row of boxes is an agency number which indicates the issuing agency of the warrant.
