Allan Martin Named Permanent Deputy State Treasurer

OLYMPIA—Allan J. Martin, who had been an acting deputy treasurer since August 1999, was named Thursday to a permanent deputy position by Washington State Treasurer Michael J. Murphy.

As deputy state treasurer for debt management, Martin, 46, manages the state’s bond indebtedness.

“I’m delighted to remove the ‘acting’ label from Allan’s title,” Murphy said. “His judgment and counsel have earned my utmost respect. Everyone in my office and the entire bond community are very pleased with his leadership style.”

Before joining the Office of the State Treasurer, Martin served as Chelan County Treasurer in Wenatchee for more than five years. He began his financial career as a mortgage banker for Security Bank of Washington, where he managed the first-time home-buyer program and various residential loan programs at four of the bank’s seven branches.

A native of the Wenatchee Valley in eastern Washington, Martin attended Wenatchee Valley College and Central Washington University and graduated from San Francisco College of Mortuary Science, which he attended on a scholarship from the Washington State Funeral Directors Association.

Allan served on the board of the Washington Municipal Treasurers Association and is a member of the Washington Finance Officers Association and Association for Governmental Leasing and Finance. He is a past president of the Washington State Association of County Treasurers.

Martin makes his home in Olympia with his wife, Sue. The Martins have three children.
