Project Description
The Tacoma
Housing Authority sponsors a twelve member AmeriCorps team in
Pierce County. Team members are placed at diverse locations in
the community with goals of mentoring and tutoring youth,
independent living for seniors and individuals with
disabilities, coordinating day camps, and assisting youth and
adults with employment readiness and job search skills
development. They are partnering with organizations such as
Goodwill, United Way, Centro Latino, and Bates Technical College
to create a strong community presence and strengthen civic
engagement.
