One-on-One Career Guidance
Workforce Investment Act (WIA) Adult Program
This program provides assistance finding employment through various activities which may include one-on-one counseling, job search assistance, and/or short term training. Low income eligibility criteria apply.
The program is most appropriate for those looking for long term employment rather than temporary employment.
To apply for the WIA Adult Program please come into the WorkSource office at 1570 Irving St. SW, Tumwater and view the Introduction to Services power point video on any computer in the Resource Room.
At that time you will be given a Program Referral Form to complete. After completing the form, return to the Information Desk and you will be given a day and time for an appointment to meet with an Employment and Training Specialist. At the meeting, it will be determined if the WIA Adult Program is an appropriate program for you.
Workers with Disabilities
The Division of Vocational Rehabilitation provides services to individuals with disabilities who want to become employed. The scope of services vary depending upon the individual needs of the customer in order to achieve the goal of employment. To apply for services from the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, come to one of our daily orientation meetings – no appointment needed! Veterans
Veterans can receive job search assistance through several programs at the WorkSource Thurston County. For more information, contact our on-site Veterans Services staff.
Mature Workers
The Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) helps individuals age 55 and over to overcome employment barriers and to find employment. Individuals are placed in a work location where they will make contacts and develop skills necessary in today’s job market.

Youth
CareerTREK services through partnership with Community Youth Services helps qualified, low income youth develop a career plan that helps over come existing barriers, prepares them academically/vocationally for a career path and provides training and assistance in finding and keeping employment. Youth who have the desire work achieve their goals and are willing to follow their plan, will be successful in the CareerTREK program.
The program case managers provides youth with assessment of basic educational levels, career interests, abilities, and assists youth to develop a career plan, complete a high school diploma / GED or higher educational degree/certificates that will provide the training for entering the labor market. Case managers provide services to support the youth, including emergency support services funds, workshops on life skills (budgeting, conflict resolution, decision making, etc, and employment workshops (resume writing, job search, interviewing,, job keeping etc) that will support the youth transition into a successful lifestyle.
