More About Us
As part of the national One-Stop initiative, our goal is to connect employment, education and training services at local, state and national levels, both electronically and at the WorkSource center. For job seekers this means that you will no longer have to fill out forms with the same information more than once, and that services are available from one site. For employers the on-line options provide a wealth of information and the ability to decide when you want staff assistance, or want to find workers and information on your own.

Visit the WorkSource Washington
Webpage
for more information.

The Port of Whitman County is an arm of local government formed in 1958 by a vote of the Whitman County citizenry. They formed the Port to do three specific things:

    • Provide access to slack water navigation on the Columbia/Snake River System
    • Promote industrial development
    • Provide recreation opportunities on the Snake River

The Port is primarily an industrial real estate developer, measuring part of its success in terms of new jobs created and new tax base developed rather than maximum return on investment. The Port values its relatively small size, its ability to work with people face-to-face, both inside and outside the organization, its creativity and its willingness to work with people on many different kinds and sizes of projects. It further values its combination of public and private perspectives; its ability to move quickly, decisively, and effectively; its financial responsibility; and its integrity. Access the Port of Whitman County  Web site.
