Washington Farmworker Investment Program
Operated by Opportunities Industrialization Center, this program provides eligible farm workers and their dependents with training and assistance to obtain year-round, full time employment in living wage jobs.

- Who is eligible?
- If you have worked in any of a wide variety of agricultural jobs, you may qualify for our free services. Some additional
requirements include:
- Authorization to work in the United States
- Selective Service registration (male applicants)
- Low income
- A desire to achieve greater success
- Examples of vocational training that is available:

- Pesticide Safety
- Workers receive:
- WSDA-approved Worker Protection Standard Training
- Worker Verification Card with 5-year certification
- ...and training in:
- The care and safe handling of pesticides
- Improper handling hazards to family, children, and pets
- Proper care and handling of contaminated items, including clothing
- How to identify industry signs and warnings
- How to recognize symptoms of exposure
- Growers receive:
- WSDA-certified employees
- Ability to meet guidelines for worker safety standards
- Reduction of illness and injury due to accidental exposure
- CPR / First Aid

- Learn the skills needed to prevent, recognize, and provide basic care for injuries and sudden illnesses until medical personnel arrive.
- Usefull take-home materials help you retain skills and serve as reference tools in an emergency.
- Meets OSHA first aid guidelines
- Machinery and tractor safety
- Training available for:
- All terrain vehicles (ATVs)
- Weight distribution
- Ladder safety
- Tractor safety
- Bin trailers
- Equipment safety
- CDL
- Grant for up to $500 for commercial driver license training
All services are provided free of cost to farmworkers! Remember, family dependents may also qualify for services.
