The workplace isn't what it used to be. Gone are millions of unskilled jobs that once offered employment to workers with limited basic skills. Today's jobs require stronger basic skills than ever before. Blue collar workers average ninety-seven minutes a day reading job-related materials compared to only nineteen minutes twenty years ago. Today, strong basic skills are the foundation to earning a middle class standard of living. 

Education and training offers unemployed or low skilled workers the opportunity to learn the skills businesses want. Strong English, math and communication skills enable workers to keep up with the ever-changing technical and interpersonal skills demanded by today's workplace. 

At Learning Centers in Omak and Brewster we teach workplace basics in cooperation with school districts and community colleges. Instruction is open-entry / open-exit, self-paced and computer-based. Our students also take classes to discover their interests, write informative resumes, identify hidden talents and practice interviewing. Cooperative learning and peer support are emphasized.   As a result, the classroom experience is job-like as students work in teams and on computers.
