Definitions
(1) Wage and salary workers who were independent contractors, independent consultants, or free-lance workers, i.e., someone who obtains customers on thier own to provide a product or service. Or workers self-employed as independent contractors, independent consultants; excludes business operators such as shop owners or restauranteurs.

(2) Workers who are only called to work as needed, although they can be scheduled to work for several days or weeks in a row, for example, substitute teachers and construction workers supplied by a union hiring hall. Also, workers who get work by waiting at a place where employers pick up people to work for a day.

(3) Includes both workers who said thier job was temporary or not temporary and are paid by a temporary help agency.

(4) Workers for companies who provide employees or thier services to others under contract. These workers are not assigned to more than one customer in a given week, and ususally work at the customer's worksite.
